I’ve had several calls this week asking me which oils work best in a green smoothie or fresh juice. That’s like asking which meal, which outfit, or which child I like best. There are so many wonderful choices. I can tell you which are most popular, which I personally like most consistently, and which seem to make me feel the best. Let me give you some guidelines that may work best in the smoothies you create.

First let me tell you why you want essential oils in your smoothies. When you add a single drop of essential oils to a smoothie, you’re adding a form a concentrated super energy to your drink. You’re adding complex aromatic molecules created by plants and sunshine. They purify and unblock the flow of energy ...

If you can’t afford to spend weeks tending a cold or flu this winter, learn what my friend Doug did about acting quickly with his essential oils, and you could get through the process in a weekend—not in two weeks … like we usually do. Here’s his story.

At the first sign of a sore throat, I recognized that I was in for a full-on cold or flu episode, which usually puts me out of commission for two to three weeks. My symptoms included a sore throat, exhaustion, headache, sinus pain, laryngitis, and eye inflammation. I learned the regimen for colds and flu and made up my capsules immediately using the 5 oils show in the video—Tea Tree, Basil, Geranium, Peppermint, and Thyme.

I took a capsule 5 times a day and ......

You hear a lot these days about creating a healthy pH balance in the body. But you can go overboard in various directions and get yourself out of balance while trying to get in balance. Essential oils can help, but not the way you may think.

Some companies have built an enormous following by selling products that promise to be alkalizing. They say that cancer and other degenerative diseases cannot thrive in an alkalized body. That scares some people into going overboard on alkalizing.

I have read a lot of literature from these companies, and have come away believing that the best way to achieve a healthy pH balance is mainly through avoiding highly processed foods, especially sugar, and enjoying a whole-food diet. Extreme measure to ......

When your vocal cords are inflammed and you can barely whisper, you need to help the natural process of healing along with the following natural remedies using essential oils.

I do a lot of singing, so laryngitis is a big problem unless I can quickly get rid of the hard, dry mucous on my enflamed vocal cords and sing again. I always spring into action with my oils at the first sign of a cold, and I can usually limit the laryngitis stage to about one or two days and still sing all the others.

Antihistamines or any over-the-counter remedy that is designed to stop or dry up a cough would make the laryngitis worse, so I always stay away from cold and cough remedies. Using these synthetic remedies tends to drive the infection ......

That question calls for a little education.

There are 3 general types of essential oils:

1.       Recreational fragrance oils for things like candles, perfume and potpourri.

2.       Food flavoring oils for things like chewing gum, sodas and toothpaste.

3.       Therapeutic essential oils for real medicinal use.

The first two can be synthetic, natural or mixtures of the two. The consistent flavor or aroma is more important than the real therapeutic value, so cheap synthetics work for candle, perfume and chewing gum companies. Even if the oils come from natural sources, they can be ......

Here's how to fill your own essential oil capsules quickly and conveniently with a blend of single essential oils

Purchase a package of single-0-sized empty capsules and put about 30 of them loose onto a plate.

Then mix your oils in an empty dropper bottle. Here’s a recipe using 5 oils for a strong antimicrobial blend.

Start with the strongest—Oregano—20 drops, then 20 drops each of Peppermint, Basil, and Geranium. Finally add 100 drops of a mild, versatile oil--Tea Tree.

This fills the bottle about halfway to the top. Then fill the bottle to the top with a carrier oil. I use grapeseed. Put your thumb over the opening and shake to mix the oils.

Then use the dropper to fill your capsules. You'll quickly......

Try some natural remedies for anxiety and other emotional distress

Perhaps you have experienced a flash of strong emotion from simply smelling something like natural gas. Perhaps a particular aftershave or fragrance triggers a rush of emotions from your past. These are what Dr. Daniel Pénoël calls “limbic brain experiences.”

The American physiologist Paul D. MacLean spent his career studying the brain and in particular the limbic system. He explains that our brain is actually three superimposed brains, which he relates to the evolutionary process. He called them the reptilian brain, the mammalian brain, and the neo-cortex. Each brain is independent from the other two in certain ways.

The primitive ......

"They Call The Wind Mariah"

That old Lerner and Lowe song from the musical Paint Your Wagon should help you remember why you use the essential oil blend named Mariah. It’s for your wind … the air you breathe. Nothing is more important to your overall health than a healthy respiratory system.

  • Mariah was specifically designed for use against the new flu strains that are giving people such a scare these days. It seems to be the nature of these new strains to manifest very differently from one person to another and one season to the next. One person may sustain more damage to the circulatory system while another person may be hit hardest in the lung and respiratory areas. One ......

How will people with germ phobia react to this information?

Whether you call yourself a mysophobic, germaphobic or microphobic (Wikipedia.org lists them all), or you just feel you have OCD, you’re going to have a reaction to the information in the January 2013 National Geographic. Here’s a way to help you process this information in a safe and natural way that will optimize your health.

The article starts: “When we inhale, our nostrils capture…a teeming community of bacteria and viruses. A few types may trigger allergies or asthma. Far more rare are inhaled pathogens that are themselves the agents of diseases, such as SARS, tuberculosis, and influenza.” But, the article continues, you can“&......

Amazing benefits from taking therapeutic essential oil capsules

Medical doctors in France have long recommended taking essential oils by capsule as possibly the most effective way to experience the full benefits of essential oils. In English-speaking countries, many experts have cautioned against ingesting essential oils, even pure therapeutic grade essential oils. A vast amount of research and clinical practice is now showing that ingestion is a safe, convenient and highly effective way to take advantage of life-giving aromatic molecules. We're starting to see recommendations for ingesting diluted Oregano Oil and Tea Tree Oil on many health sites for a wide variety of natural remedies.

Here are some answers to common questions ......
